Milonga denotes a space in which the tango is danced which has nowadays replaced the grand patios of the conventillo – a typical neighborhood house with many rooms where entire working class families lived, marked by large, shared patios or adjacent cafeterias. Therefore, this musical genre is related to Tango, even though its rhythm is accelerated and the intention behind it is the celebration. One notes that the major difference between the two is indeed the exchange of nostalgia for happiness.
