Sports occupy a preeminent place in the life of porteños.
Such activities include: basketball, volleyball, tennis, turf, rugby, rally, polo, fishing, ice-skating, cycling, golf, hockey, swimming, padel, motorcycling, gymnastics, boxing, race car driving, horse riding, etc. These sports are practiced selectively.
Soccer, on the other hand, distinct from all of the above-mentioned sports is the absolute argentine sport for all. As with the majority, of Latin American countries, that share a strong sports culture, soccer is promoted from ones infancy, when one already adopts a team and begins practicing (so-called Baby-football).
The importance of soccer is so great that the initiative to determine which soccer club one will adhere to becomes a commitment of honor. Furthermore, the competition among the distinct teams on the field is often directed to violence, as happens with the “barrabravas” (groups committed to sorts of transgressions, committed in the defense of ones club).
Here is a list the principle proponents of sports and their establishments.
