An authorized definition of “Museum,” pronounced by the ICOM says: “The museum is a permanent institution without lucrative ends, at the service of society and dedicated to its development, open to the public, and adhering, conserving, investigating, communicating and exhibiting for the purpose of study, education and enjoyment, material testimonies of man and his surrounding.”
