Attending to claims:
- Regarding commercial abuse;
- Of robbery, crime, theft, disappearance, and location;
- Regarding a breach in a service contract.
In these cases, the Tourist Police, the Tourist Defense, and the Consumer’s Defense work together.
The Help Line is free; operating daily from 9 AM to 8 PM. Assistance is available in Spanish, English, Portuguese, Italian and French.

Information on the City

The Secretary of Tourism administers its own Tourist Information Centers (CIT), located in several neighborhoods.
The CIT offer all sorts of material (maps, guides, leaflets) and useful information so that you can move the city freely.
Tourist Defense
If you visit the city and undergo some sort of mistreatment, abuse or discrimination, contact the Tourist Defense at 4302 7816 or go directly to the office on Av. Pedro de Mendoza 1835 (Museo de Bellas Artes "Benito Quinquela Martín") in the La Boca neighborhood, open Monday through Sunday 10 AM to 6 PM. Email: turista@defensoria.org.ar

Tourist Police station

Attending to claims by tourists who have been victim to crime, robbery, and theft. Furthermore they deal with the disappearance, search and location of persons.
They act to prevent crime.
They assist with particular embassy and consul proceedings.
They staff interpreters of English, Italian, French, Portuguese, Ukrainian, and Japanese.

Consumer Defense: Tourist Assistance Program (*)

Foreign tourists can appeal to the head office of the city’s Consumer Defense and Protection office in order to resolve consumer-related conflicts.

(*) Foreign tourists from all over the world can turn to our offices to resolve consumer-related conflicts.

When a business fails to comply with its part of commercial transaction, for example when an acquired product doesn’t function properly because of it’s defective, or when a business fails to comply with a service agreed upon in a contract, the affected person may present his/her claim to the city’s Consumer Defense and Protection office.

Claims may be made in person by the titled person at Esmeralda 340, Monday through Friday 9 AM to 6:30 PM and Saturday 9 Am to 1 PM. The claimant can also present him/herself at the Centers for Communal Management (CGPC).

Legal Requisites for Representation

Having obtained the defective product in Buenos Aires
The claimant must be the end consumer

Required documentation in order to make a claim:
1. A note that records the facts
2. A proof of transaction: a receipt, a ticket of purchase, a contract (original)
3. Passport or MERCOSUR identification document.
