Originally a French term, “cabaret” denotes a platform for shows of a generally sexual flavor, with music, dance, comedy and performance art in the same register.
Another aspect marking it out from other shows is the incorporation of a bar and sometimes a restaurant.
The porteño barrio that contains the best examples of this genre is Recoleta.
Cabaret is restricted to an adult audience, without exception.
